JIBOIA TEMPLE

A Sacred Space for Healing, Rebirth, and Connection

The Jiboia Temple is a visionary sacred space located in Lake Atitlán, Guatemala, conceived as a contemporary temple for healing, rebirth, and reconnection with nature. Inspired by the ancient symbol of the Cosmic Egg, the project combines sacred architecture, geomancy, solar geometry, and Maya ancestral wisdom to create a living structure aligned with both Earth and cosmos.

Designed by Guatemalan architect and geomancer Rocío Araujo / Geotitlan, the Temple goes beyond conventional architecture by integrating Earth energies, harmonic measurements, celestial alignments, land harmonization, natural materials, and regenerative landscape design. Every aspect of the project is conceived to support emotional, energetic, and spiritual wellbeing.

The Temple’s distinctive egg-shaped geometry embodies the archetype of the womb — a sacred container for transformation. Its curved form is designed to circulate and amplify subtle energies, creating a harmonious environment especially suited for meditation, ceremony, and healing practices with sacred plant medicines.

Deeply rooted in Maya cosmology, the project honors Guatemala’s ancestral traditions while bringing them into a contemporary architectural language. Inspired by ancient ceremonial spaces associated with the feminine, caves, and the underworld, the Temple becomes both a spiritual sanctuary and a living work of art.

Built with a blend of vernacular techniques and contemporary engineering, the Jiboia Temple seeks to demonstrate a regenerative way of building — one that reconnects architecture with spirit, ecology, beauty, and the intelligence of the land itself.

LA PUERTECITA DE ATITAN

A Regenerative Project for the Well being

Much more than a simple bed and breakfast, La Puertecita de Atitlán stands as a visionary regeneration project, where ancient practices of harmonizing spaces manifest . The natural surroundings have served as the perfect canvas to create La Puertecita de Atitlán, blending natural vernacular materials, local cultural elements, and environmentally friendly practices.

Earth acupuncture has been crucial in the careful harmonization of the place, minimizing the detrimental effects of underground water veins and terrain faults. The sacred solar geometry imbues solar rhythms, such as solstices and equinoxes, throughout the structure, aligning it with the winter solstice sunrise (December 21) and sensitively connecting us with the sun. Every nook, room, window, door, wall, and piece of furniture has been meticulously designed, incorporating the vibrations of the five elements through the harmonic measurements of the place. Our bodies feel the well-being, the elevation of the spirit, and the peace emanating from the energetic architecture.

Zero Waste Architecture

In our pursuit of zero waste architecture, we embrace a transformative approach where debris and remnants from both ongoing and dismantled constructions become the foundational elements of our structures. We breathe new life into old structural and architectural elements, creatively repurposing them to minimize the otherwise inevitable waste generated during construction. This commitment extends beyond sustainability—it's a conscious effort to recover and reutilize materials, fostering an environment where the remnants of one creation become the building blocks for another.
